Plates & Places is a personal project. I am not interested in harvesting or selling your personal data. However, like almost all websites, this site uses a few standard third-party tools to function and understand how people are finding my content.

1. Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to track basic, anonymous traffic data (e.g., which pages get the most views, general geographic regions of visitors, and outbound link clicks). This helps me understand what content is actually useful. Google Analytics uses cookies to achieve this. You can opt out of Google Analytics by using browser extensions like the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

2. Third-Party Services

To make this site work, I use a few external APIs:

  • Mapbox: Used to render the interactive maps and geocode locations. Mapbox may collect standard web analytics (like IP addresses) when serving map tiles to your browser.
  • Cloudinary: Used to host and serve optimized images.

3. Affiliate Links

Some posts may contain affiliate links. If you click on an affiliate link and make a purchase, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. These links are explicitly marked when used. The affiliate network will use cookies to track your click to assign the commission.

4. Contacting Me

If you email me using the address provided in the footer, I will receive your email address and any information you include. I will only use this to reply to your inquiry. I won't add you to a newsletter (because I don't have one) or share your email with anyone.
